NOE U16’S 2024 - DAY ONE

Day 1 of the North of England Under 16’s Strokeplay Championship took place in windy conditions providing a tough test for the 127 competitors. With all the scores in, only 6 players managed a below par score, 4 boys and 2 girls, all in the Under 16 category.

Leading the way for the boys, all at one under par, were Harry Phillips (Bingley St Ives), Leo Cahi (Cottesmore), Owen Rafferty (Retford) and Cole Self (Ringway). Joining them on the same sub par score were Zoe McLean-Tattan (Romford) and Molly Campbell (Hollinwell) in the girls grouping.

Top placed Under 14 Jaxson Perry (The Kendleshire) was tied seventh overall with an excellent level par 72 and the best placed girl in that age group was Kim Lou Joachim (Switzerland) whose 76 put her at 2 over for the Red course par.

Second round play gets under way at 07.30am on Thursday with similar weather conditions forecast, so all players will have to be at their best if they want to make the cut for the two round final session on Friday.
