On Tuesday 18 June 27 ladies took part in the Ladies 18-hole Medal competition, which was also the Audrey Charles Rosebowl. Division 1 was won by in form Sandra Taylor, net 74. Sandra’s round included 2 birdies and 3 pars. In second place, on countback, was Gail Witcomb, also with a net 74. Gerry Callander came in third with net 76. Division 2 was won by Sue White with an impressive net 71, including 5 pars. Jackie Smart, nett 76 was in second place, Lydia Scott taking third place with nett 78. The winner of the Audrey Charles Rosebowl was Sue White, this will be presented to Sue at the Lady Captain’s Day dinner in July.

Ten ladies took part in the 9-hole Stableford competition, Alison Kitson taking first place with 19 points, closely followed by Susan Taylor with 18 points.

On Wednesday 19 June there was a thrilling finale to the Pannal Rosebowl with a sudden death play-off in Pannal’s premier scratch competition with Jack Maxey, Hornsea GC (pictured below with Andrew Asquith, Men’s Vice Captain) just edging out Bailey Hird, Cookridge GC on the first extra hole. After 36 holes, both were tied on an incredible 9 under par score with Bailey Hird (pictured below) shooting a new course record 63 in the first round.

 On a stunning day with Pannal looking its finest, this Yorkshire Order of Merit qualifier attracted a field of 47 from around the county with Richard Wheatley, the experienced player from Bradford GC coming third one shot behind. In fourth, Matthew Dooley from York GC hit a 6 under par score with Oliver Caton from Crosland Heath GC was fifth at 3 under.

 Best gross first round with a 67 went to Saul Guildford, Moor Allerton GC and best second round with 69 was Alex James, Royal Lytham & St Annes GC.

Saturday 22 June members played in a Medal & RNLI Spoon in warm sunny conditions. R Allan Cooper won Division 1 with a net 71, going out in 38 coming back in 40 with 2 birdies and 9 pars beating Simon Rothwell in a card play-off. Steve Brennan won Division 2 with a net 67, going out in 42 coming back in 39 with 1 birdie and 9 pars beating Danny Mills by 1 shot. Harry Armstrong won Division 3 with a net 69, going out in 44 coming back in 41 with 9 pars beating Max Davies by 2 shots. There were 18 twos recorded.
