42 Ladies played in the 3-ball Texas Scramble, over 15 holes, on Tuesday 30 July. All teams played well, with only 5 shots separating the whole field. Second place was Pam Dodds (38 points) and Sophie Jacobs came third (37 points). The high scores of the day were all in division 2, with 4 ladies scoring 40 points or higher. Dee Miller and Vanda McKenzie both had 43 points, Dee taking first place on count back. Gail Wilson, 40 points, came third, narrowly beating Vicki Nee, also 40 points, on countback. 6 ladies played in the green course, 9-hole Stableford, Sandra Dewey taking the honours with 22 points.

MEMORIAL BOWL

The above Competition took place on Sunday 28th July in glorious weather, having been postponed from the rainy season at the end of May! Sixteen pairs took part in a better ball Stableford format, all aiming to win the Joan Caw Memorial Bowl.

Scoring was very high and the result a close one, with mother and son combination Ruth and Sam Skaife Clark winning with 45 points (B924), highlights being Ruth’s eagle 3 at the 16th immediately followed by Sam’s birdie on 17! This pipped their playing partners Carol and Gareth Whiles into second place with Clare and Max Davies third, both couples also having 45 points but with back 9 scores of 23 and 22 respectively.

A great day enjoyed by all in memory of the many Pannal members whom we have sadly lost over the years.

On Saturday 10th August the club held the monthly medal and Barber Bratby. Gary Beeston won division 1 with a nett 67, going out in 36 coming back in 39 with 2 birdies and 12 pars beating Oliver Hunter by 1 shot. Steve Brennan won division 2 with a nett 67, going out in 40 coming back in 40 with 1 birdie and 8 pars beating Roger Emmett in a card play-off. James Gardiner won division 3, with a nett 70, going out in 47 coming back in 40 with 11 pars beating Ed Little by 1 shot. There were 22 two’s.
