On Sunday 5th May the Lockwood Trophy was played for in the annual Ladies v Juniors match.
We had a fantastic turnout of 12 juniors and 10 ladies. We played five 4BBB match plays (with the remaining 2 juniors playing a friendly game at the end of the field with Simon Stalker, junior coordinator).
The match was won by the ladies 3 ½ to 1 ½.
Tuesday 7 May was a Ladies Medal, 27 ladies entered the competition, which was also a qualifier for the top 8 ladies to go into the Mary Lee singles Matchplay knockout competition. Division 1 was won by Linda Moore with net 75, playing some very consistent golf for all 18 holes. Second place was Amanda Dunn, net 78, third place was Vicky Eyre, net 81. Division 2 was won by Helen Mountford, net 76, playing a tidy round including 2 pars and a birdie on the par 3 third hole. Jackie Smart came second with net 82 and Sue White was in third place with net 83. 7 Ladies played in the 9-hole Stableford competition, Joanne McCormack winning with 16 points, including two pars.
Saturday 11th May saw the Harewood Cup medal being held in sunny conditions. Tom Booth’s excellent form continued winning division 1 with a net 68, going out in 39 coming back in 34 with 3 birdies and 11 pars beating Michael Cliff by 1 shot. This was Tom’s third consecutive medal win! Jon Clayton won division 2 with a net 71, going out in 42 coming back in 38 with 1 birdie and 10 pars beating Anthony McGibbon in a card play off. Simon Mitchell won division 3 with a net 71, going out in 47 coming back in 39 with 1 birdie and 6 pars beating Paul Chumas by 3 shots. There were a total of 30 two’s recorded.
The Men’s winter league final was played on 7th May between Alan Morris & David Whan v David Everingham & Paul Chumas. After 18 holes in brilliant sunshine the match went to the 19th hole where Alan Morris & David Whan managed to secure a hard-fought victory. Congratulations to both teams for reaching the final.
