On June 17th, Pannal hosted a golf day raising funds for Saint Michael’s Hospice in Harrogate. The funds raised were an incredible £15,646. Pictured below (L -R) Sandra Gilbert, Hospice, Gary Macnair, Jerry Dexter, James Dix & John Ellacott from the organising committee.
32 ladies competed in the Medal and Centenary Comport Trophy on Tuesday 16th July. It was a day of many good scores, with 10 ladies playing to their handicap or better. Junior lady, Bella Mountain joined the ladies’ competition for the first time and had an amazing score of nett 69, winning division 1 by 3 shots. Bella’s round included 2 birdies and 5 pars, second place was Ruth Skaife-Clarke, nett 72. Third place was tightly contested as 4 ladies had nett 75, Vicky Eyre achieving the place on countback. Division 2 saw another amazing score, Dee Miller being the winner with nett 66, Vanda McKenzie second with nett 70 and Natalie Boyle, nett 75, was in third place. In line with the trophy terms of competition, Vanda McKenzie was the winner of the Centenary Comport. 9 ladies played in the green course 9-hole Stableford, Anne Chippendale taking the honours with 12 points.
Inter Club Results
After mixed fortunes in recent matches the First Team got back to winning ways this Tuesday in the HDUGC Inter Club League with a decisive win over league leaders Ripon City GC.
In the singles there were wins for Jason Taylor (7&6), Simon Walker (6&4) and Will Caldecott (1 up). Things were tighter in the pairs section however with the Men’s Captain and The Pro setting the pace with a 6&5 win backed up by halved matches from Alan North & Gary Macnair and Alan Pater & Steve Taylor.
This gave us 10 points to 6 win, and a positive mind set going into the next match away to Harrogate GC on Thursday25th.
On Saturday 19th July sixty seven pairs entered the Open Championship Fourball Betterball Stableford off the white tees. Claire Davies & her husband Max won with an impressive 47 points. One point ahead of Brian Hamilton & Michael Reevey who finished second on a countback beating Tim Rhodes & Paul Barnard.
